Jim Crawford is a Partner, Manager and Senior Technical Advisor for the Los Angeles office of STUDIOpractice. He is responsible for general project management including schedule development and monitoring, consultant contracting and administration, technical coordination, code compliance and construction administration services. Jim played a key role during the production of The Getty Center construction documents, the City of Los Angeles permit process, and the construction administration of the project. He also oversaw the technical coordination and construction documentation for the San Jose City Hall and Civic Center project, completed in 2005. Jim served as Project Manager for the new United States Courthouse in San Diego; the UCLA Broad Art Center renovation; Mandeville Place condominium tower in Philadelphia; All Saints Church Expansion in Pasadena; ongoing projects for the Getty Center in Los Angeles; the Edie and Lew Wasserman Building at UCLA; the Ward Village Gateway Towers in Honolulu; the One Beverly Hills hotel and luxury residential development; and the Superior Court of California, Sonoma County.

Jim began his professional career with the San Francisco Redevelopment Agency in 1970, receiving a HUD Design Award for his work on the redevelopment of a Victorian neighborhood. In 1976, he relocated to Teheran, Iran with Mercury Consultants to develop a resort island in the Persian Gulf. During his three-year stay in Iran, Jim was involved in the production of documents for the Imam Reza Shrine Development in Mashad, the Hyatt Caspian Casino in Namakaband and a sports club on Kish Island. Upon returning to the United States in 1979, he worked for Skidmore, Owings and Merrill, and was named an Associate in 1984. During his tenure at SOM, Jim was responsible for the construction and field review of several West Coast projects including Burbank Center, an IBM office building in San Diego, and the thirty-four-story mixed- use Symphony Towers in San Diego, California. He joined Richard Meier & Partners in 1988, was named a Senior Associate in 1989, an Associate Partner in 1993, and a Partner in 2006. Jim received his Bachelor of Architecture from the University of California, Berkeley, and is licensed in the state of California.
